OUT OF CONTROL BEHAVIORS

OUT OF CONTROL BEHAVIORS

Does This Sound Familiar?

Do you feel like your dog never slows down?

Are you exhausted trying to keep up with their energy, intensity, and constant need for stimulation?

Does your dog:

• seem hyper all day long

• pace or always get into something

• demand attention nonstop

• have a very high prey drive

• chase squirrels, rabbits, bikes, cars, kids, or cats

• jump, mouth, or become wild during play

• react to every sound or movement

• struggle to settle or relax

• seem unable to turn their brain off

• have a very short attention span

Out of control behaviors can make everyday life feel chaotic, exhausting, stressful, and emotionally overwhelming.

You may feel:

• overwhelmed

• frustrated

• exhausted

• discouraged

• worried your dog will never calm down

You may have already tried:

• more walks

• more fetch

• more daycare

• more exercise

• more stimulation

• training videos

And yet the behavior continues.

One of the biggest things I want you to know is this:

Your dog is not bad.

Your dog is not stubborn.

Your dog is not trying to drive you crazy.

They are HAVING a hard time.

And a CALM DOG is the answer.

What Most Owners Don't Realize

One of the most common mistakes I see is trying to physically tire dogs out.

I understand why.

It seems logical.

A tired dog should be a calm dog.  But constant play and exercise can make these behaviors worse.

But many dogs become addicted to adrenaline, excitement, stimulation, movement, and constant activity.

Another common mistake is accidentally rewarding hyper behavior.

Many dogs spend their entire day living at a level of excitement that feels normal to them.  And we love on them and show affection even when they are in this heightened state.

That is reinforcing the behavior.

Many owners are trying their best.

They simply haven't been taught how overstimulation affects behavior.

What Your Dog May Be Trying to Tell You

Many out of control dogs are struggling with feelings such as:

• overstimulation

• frustration

• stress

• overwhelm

• lack of fulfillment

• disconnection

They are not trying to make your life difficult.

They are not trying to embarrass you.

They are not trying to ignore you.

They are trying to cope with the world around them the best way they know how.

That simple shift in perspective changes everything.

Why Common Solutions Often Fall Short

Many owners believe more exercise is the answer.

I've worked with many dogs whose owners kept adding:

• more walks

• more fetch

• more daycare

• more stimulation

Yet the hyper behavior remained.

And many times it got worse.

Because physical exhaustion and emotional calm are not the same thing.

A dog can be physically tired and still feel emotionally overwhelmed.

A tired dog is not always a calm dog.

The Behavior Is Not the Real Problem

When most people search for help with out of control behaviors, they're focused on what they can see.

• hyperactivity

• pacing

• prey drive

• jumping

• mouthing

• barking

• constant movement

• inability to settle

• chasing

• impulsive behavior

But these behaviors are only the symptoms.

Not the root of the problem.

All behaviors are a form of your dog's communication.

When a dog seems out of control, they are trying to tell us something.

Overstimulation.

Stress.

Frustration.

Lack of fulfillment.

Disconnection.

Living too high on the adrenaline scale.

Most owners spend months trying to stop the behavior itself.

Yet the behavior keeps returning.

That's because lasting change happens when we understand what is driving the behavior, not just the behavior we can see.

Need Help Getting to the Root of the Behavior?

Understanding and dealing with the root cause is the first step toward meaningful change that lasts.

Inside this online course, I'll walk you through the same step-by-step process I use with private clients to help your dog learn how to:

• settle

• relax naturally

• create lasting behavior change

Looking Beneath the Behavior

Out of control behaviors don't only happen in young dogs.

I see it in:

• puppy mill survivors

• breeder dogs

• inherited dogs

• puppies

• senior dogs

• all dogs from all backgrounds

Some dogs have never learned how to settle.

Some have practiced hyper behaviors for years.

Some have strong prey drive and instincts that have never been fulfilled appropriately.

Some have spent their lives living in a constant state of excitement and stimulation.

Different histories.

Similar struggles.

And that's important because many owners assume their dog simply has too much energy.

Many times the real problem is overstimulation, under-fulfillment, and a lack of calm.

Starting Right or Starting Over

Whether your dog is brand new or you've been struggling with this behavior for months or even years, I encourage everyone to start in the exact same place.

If The CALM DOG Connection principles can successfully rehabilitate severely traumatized rescue dogs, imagine what they can do for your dog.

Whether you're trying to prevent unwanted behaviors or help your dog overcome behaviors you're already struggling with, we start by teaching your dog how to be calm.

Not with more commands.

Not with more correction.

We start by helping your dog feel safe and learn how to relax.

One of the biggest things I've learned after working with thousands of dogs and their owners is that many loving owners accidentally create more stress without realizing it.

Most of us are simply doing what feels natural.

We talk to our dogs, many times in full sentences or baby talk.

We pet and cuddle our dogs constantly.

We let them follow us everywhere.

We try to keep them entertained.

It comes from a place of love.

But many of our dogs never learn how to feel calm without depending on us. We are their primary source of overstimulation without realizing it.

They become dependent on constant interaction, constant reassurance, or constant activity around them.

At the same time, many dogs are not getting enough of what truly fulfills their instincts as dogs.

This is what I mean when I talk about dogs becoming overstimulated and under fulfilled.

And when that imbalance continues long enough, it shows up as behavior.

Inside The CALM DOG Connection, we'll get to the root of your dog's behavior and I'll show you how to create:

• calm

• consistency

• structure

• fulfillment

• emotional safety

Before behavior can change, most dogs need to learn how to rest, decompress, and feel safe enough to finally relax.

Whether your dog is overexcited, nervous, fearful, shy, or anxious, we have to help them calm down first.

When dogs begin to feel calm and safe, behavior starts changing naturally.

💛 Your dog has been trying to communicate with you all along.

Now that you understand more about what's happening beneath the behavior, the next step is learning how to help them.

Inside The CALM DOG Connection, I'll guide you step by step so you can begin creating more calm, confidence, emotional safety, and a stronger connection with your dog.

You don't have to figure this out alone.

Choose the option that feels right for you.

Connection Instead of Correction

Inside The CALM DOG Connection online course, one of my core philosophies is:

Connection NOT Correction.

Instead of focusing on obedience, we focus on understanding.

Instead of forcing behavior change, we focus on creating calm.

You'll learn how to build trust through:

• eye contact

• calm energy

• body language

• subtle words

• positive rewards

• confidence building

• structure

• leadership

• connection

Because when dogs feel safe, understood, and connected, meaningful change becomes possible.

There Is Hope

If you're struggling with out of control behaviors, I want you to leave here knowing this:

You are not alone.

Your dog is not broken.

And it is not too late.

I've helped many dogs and owners struggling with:

• hyperactivity

• prey drive

• pacing

• impulsive behaviors

• inability to settle

Change is possible.

Because we help dogs feel safer, calmer, and more understood.
