Hello Fur Friends... I'm really glad you're here.
Whether you just brought a new dog or puppy home…
or you’ve been struggling for a while…
you’re in the right place.
Even though I talk a lot about rescue dogs, this course is for all dogs, puppies, and owners.
Whether you're starting right or starting over, you're in the right place.
This isn’t another dog training course.
We’re not going to focus on commands, correcting behavior, or trying to force your dog to “listen.”
We’re going to do something completely different.
We’re going to start by understanding
what your dog is actually feeling.
In the next few lessons, I’ll show you exactly how to create that calm foundation —
because behavior improves much faster when dogs finally feel safe.
Most behavior problems begin with too much stimulation, stress, and a dog that doesn't feel grounded or safe.
Throughout this course you will occasionally see a SKIM ALERT.
I created this course to help as many types of dogs and owners as possible, which means every section may not apply directly to your situation.
If a section does not directly apply, skim it for awareness instead of reading every word.
Examples:
• No children? Skim child-specific sections.
• No other dogs? Skim dog-to-dog sections.
These sections are still important because you may come across other people's kids & dogs but they are not in your daily life.
The goal is to focus on what matters most for your dog right now.
ISN'T LOVING MY DOG ENOUGH?
Not really because we need to help our dogs adapt into our world.
Most dogs and owners love each other so deeply…
But unfortunately love alone doesn’t create a calm, well-behaved dog.
You can love your dog and still feel frustrated, overwhelmed, or confused by their behavior.
Many unwanted behaviors are signals that something deeper needs attention.
For some dogs, it shows up right away.
For others, it builds slowly over time.

Are You Struggling With Any of These Behaviors?

It's very frustrating and stressful. You love your dog so much but you feel like these behaviors come out of nowhere. One minute your dog is sweet, and the next they are out of control and behaviors are getting worse.
These behaviors are signals.
Your dog is trying to cope with a world
that feels overwhelming
and unclear.

Instead of fixing one behavior at a time let's find out the root of the behaviors and change that instead.
Could there really be one way to help most dogs and many behaviors?
Yes — if we stop focusing only on the behaviors and start addressing the root cause.
That approach is The CALM DOG Connection.
- a gentle way to keep your dog calm, and change what is stressing them.

You are going to learn in detail something I created from working with all different dog behaviors.
I call it the Adrenaline Scale.
Think of it like a stress (over excitement or nervousness) thermometer.
The CALM DOG Connection will teach you how to use this scale to:
• identify and reduce your dog’s stress
• understand what’s driving behavior
• provide the kind of fulfillment that creates calm
You’ll learn my 3 core pieces that help improve nearly every behavior:
• The FurEver Four Daily Routine
• The Principles of Safety
• Calm Leadership
These are the foundation for helping dogs with leash pulling, barking, reactivity, aggression, separation anxiety, overexcitement, potty issues, resource guarding, fear and shy behaviors , jumping, not listening, and so much more.
When you understand these three things, behavior starts making sense—and real change becomes possible.
In my dog training brain, I can boil down almost every behaviors to these two issues
In our human world…
1. Our dogs are often overstimulated in ways that go against their DNA—
2. And they are under-fulfilled in the ways that actually meet their natural instincts.
When we address both of those consistently we can calm down the behaviors almost immediately.
They’re getting too much emotional and environmental stimulation…
and not enough of what they truly need:
mental outlets
natural instinct fulfillment
calm, structured activity
meaningful engagement
So their energy builds…
their stress builds…
And eventually shows up as behavior.
This is why:
• more exercise doesn’t fix it
• more affection doesn’t fix it
• more commands don’t fix it
To truly help your dog…
we have to stop treating them like human babies—
and start understanding what they actually need.
Dogs need
structure
calm
clear guidance
and fulfillment that matches their natural instincts
Does your dog love you, trust you and respect you?
Most dogs love, but not all dogs trust and/or respect their owners.
Excitable dogs may love their owners but still struggle to respect their leadership.
Nervous or timid dogs may love their owners but still struggle to fully trust their owners.
Our goal as we go through this course together
is to build all three:
Love, Trust, and Respect.

Most training focuses on controlling behavior.
Real, lasting change happens in a different order:
Calm (not excited) Love → Trust → Respect = Calm Behavior & Bonding
When a dog feels calm…
they can think, trust you, and then naturally respect your guidance
This is where calm leadership begins—not through force or correction, but by helping your dog feel safe enough to look to you for guidance. This is how we start improving reactivity, aggression, leash pulling, and so many of the behaviors owners struggle with most.
We Don’t Force Behavior...
We Create the Conditions That Allow it to Change.
So the real question becomes:
How do we create calm?
Because without calm…
training becomes much harder.
We start by giving your dog something
they may have never truly had before:
A place where they can finally settle…
where they feel safe…
and where they can begin to truly relax.
This is what we call:
A Place of Safety
In the next few lessons…
we’re going to start by helping your dog begin to settle and calm down
through two of the most important and most overlooked needs:
Deep Sleep & Safety.
Then later... Then I’ll show you how the full Principles of Safety work together—your Place of Safety, your role as their Primary Person of Safety, your Pack of Safety, and how calm Perimeters of Safety create real confidence and trust.
If you recently brought a new furry friend home, you may not have any problems. But stress can show up quickly when dogs are overwhelmed by change — and stress is what turns into unwanted behaviors.
SAD BUT TRUE...
Dog owners are most likely to return or surrender a new dog due to behavior issues within the first 1 week to 3 months
This is often preventable by applying what you will learn in this course.
I want to show you how to prevent many of the most common behaviors that cause dogs to be surrendered in the first place.
Many puppies do things that are cute when they are 10 lbs but those same behaviors are not so cute and potentially dangerous when they are 60 or 100 lbs.

If you’ve had your best friend for a while and you’re struggling with behaviors, you may feel frustrated, discouraged, or overwhelmed.
Please hear my heart when I tell you your dog is not broken and they are not beyond help. They are just stressed and overwhelmed.
I’ll help you understand what is really driving the behaviors and how to start over and rebuild your relationship through calm, safety, and structure.
I want you to treat this course as if you just brought your dog home today. Let's start over and calm your dog down and ease those behaviors.

There is something so important I want you to understand throughout this entire journey.
Your dog cannot train itself.
Please pause and really think about that for a moment. 🤔
Your best friend cannot help itself.
Your dog cannot decide to have more:
• structure
• calm
• consistency
• confidence
• emotional safety
Your dog is completely dependent on you to show them the way, they cannot make the changes without your leadership.
When I look at a struggling dog, I see an animal doing the best they can with the guidance they have been given.
I never go to someone's house and train the dog.
I always train the human on how to help their dog.
That is why my motto is:
Training Humans to Speak Dog.
We have to show our dogs how to be successful in our world.
If we don't, it would be like expecting a child to raise themselves.
They simply can't.
Your dog needs you.
The human is the leader, and I am here to show you how to lead your dog calmly.
If your dog is struggling with behaviors, they are not GIVING you a hard time.
They really are HAVING a hard time.
The truth is, your dog cannot solve any behavioral problem without you.
They are waiting for you to show them the way.
Your dog needs you to help them.
And I'll be here to help you!

Right now, your job is simple but it may feel hard for you emotionally and that is okay.
Most dogs struggle to calm themselves down,
so we need to help them power down.
New dogs need time to settle and adjust from transitioning to a new home
and dogs with behavioral issues need time to calm down from the stress that is causing their behaviors.
Please just let your dog or puppy rest while you and I go through this course together.
For a minimum of the next 3 days, your dog only needs to:
Eat
Drink water
Go potty
And sleep sleep sleep.
That’s it.
For right now:
No walks
No visitors
No cuddling (yikes, really?)
No talking to them (yes, really!)
No unnecessary stimulation
Sleep is productive.
We need to create a calm starting point before other training becomes effective.
Your instinct is to engage more — but right now we need to engage less.
Your love for your dog needs to start to look different.
I'm going to show you throughout the course that dogs don’t experience love the same way we do. To them, human excitement can feel stressful because it’s foreign to their wolf DNA.
Feeling safe and calm is what creates connection for them.
When your dog feels peaceful and safe, a much deeper bond begins to form between you and your best friend.
Reminder:
Whether your dog is new to you or you have had it for years this is where we all start... your homework for the a minimum of the next 3 days is:
Ignore your dog as best you can
and avoid all stimulation.
DON'T RUSH THIS DECOMPRESSION TIME
Three days is the minimum—many dogs need much longer depending on their background, stress level, fear, overexcitement, or past experiences.Go at your dog’s pace. Be mindful of their biological needs as well as overexcitement or fearfulness.
You can do this,
I know it is hard to ignore them, but please trust me... this is how I start helping all dogs with all behaviors. Decompression and rest.
I’m here for you.
And I’m proud of you.
Please remember your dog cannot help themselves.
They need you to help them,
and I will be here to help you!

💛 Make This Promise to Your Dog
Look your sweet dog or puppy in the eyes and make this promise to them:
I understand that you cannot help yourself so I will be here to help you.
"I promise you that I will complete at least one lesson each day,
and keep learning because you are counting on me."

I hope this lesson helped you begin seeing your dog through a different lens.
If there's one thing I want you to remember, it's this:
Your best friend is not giving you a hard time... they're having a hard time.
And the wonderful thing is, once you understand what your dog is trying to tell you, real change becomes possible.
You don't have to figure this all out by yourself.
I'll walk beside you, one lesson at a time, and show you how to create the calm, confidence, safety, and connection you and your dog have been waiting for.
I'm so glad you found your way here, and I'd love to continue this journey with you and your dog.
Choose the option that feels right for you below, and let's keep learning together.
